Clutch and Transmission Issues

Okay, the rig’s over thirty years old, so I expect some things will need doing from time to time. Sometimes I can put those things off until the timing’s right, sometimes it needs to get done or the truck stays parked.

So it was with the clutch. It was down to the last measure of adjustment, and to make things worse, upon shifting into a gear and subsequent clutch release, it made a loud, very perceptible screech down around the transmission. Loud enough to turn heads on the street. Not good.

I checked around the area to see if anyone had the time-in-grade to have worked on older Ford trucks, since I wanted it done right the first time. I came upon Trans Clutch Transmissions in Wenatchee. Dennis Clardy, one of the co-owners, had the experience, and was a one-time owner of an older Ford truck as well. He had a pretty good idea of what the problem was, and so encouraged, I turned the truck over to Trans Clutch to see what they could do.

Success!

Turned out the transmission noise was the pilot bearing. Add a new clutch and a rear main seal (Dennis replaced that as well while things were apart) and the truck shifts like new. I’ve had the truck out and about for around a week now, and I’m very well pleased. I’ll definitely do business with Trans Clutch again!

Web Browsers Don’t Necessarily Think the Same Way

For those who may not know, a web browser is computer software that displays internet websites on a visitor’s computer. Internet Explorer, Safari, and Firefox are commonly-used web browsers.

Just what is “Cross-Browser Compatibility”? Simply stated, it’s the ability of a website to display and function properly in a variety of commonly-used web browsers. This is very important to a website owner that wants to reach the maximum intended audience. Unfortunately, a website doesn’t always look the same in all web browsers, since browsers don’t always agree how the code should be interpreted and displayed. Read on…

Lake Wenatchee State Park »

Here’s Lake Wenatchee State Park’s South Beach in late February. The view is west towards the Little Wenatchee and White River drainages. Dirty Face Peak is on the right. This is very popular during the summer months for swimming and just plain hanging out. The boat launch is nearby, as is a small store and the south campground. Read on…
